Patryk Klimala has been left out of the starting XI as Celtic take on Nice tonight in the first friendly of the new season.

The Polish striker has been featured on Celtic’s internal media outlets during pre-season but will start the match from the bench with Neil Lennon starting with one striker.

It’s 131 days since Celtic beat St Mirren 5-0 in the SPFL with Lennon naming what looks like his strongest side for the match being played in Lyon.

Odsonne Edouard is the sole striker but won’t be short of backing with James Forrest, Ryan Christie and Moi Elyounoussi all breaking up in support.

In recent seasons Celtic have tended to make 11 changes at half-time in their first pre-season matches but with just three matches so far arranged Lennon may want to give his players more playing time.

Klimala is listed as a substitute alongside Ismaila Soro with Ross Doohan and Conor Hazard the back-up goalkeepers to Scott Bain.

On Saturday Celtic play Lyon before travelling to the capital to play Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday.

Celtic: Bain: Frimpong, Jullien, Ajer, Taylor; Brown, McGregor; Forrest, Christie, Elyounoussi; Edouard

SUBS: Doohan, Hazard, Bitton, Klimala, Soro, Ntcham, Bolingoli, Connell, Robertson, Elhamed, McInroy, Henderson, Karamoko, Welsh
