Celtic fans can be a greedy lot. Not content with seeing Odsonne Edouard wearing the new Adidas home kit some are looking for a contract extension alongside a switch from number 22 to the iconic seven.

Three years ago the teenager arrived on loan from Paris Saint Germain as third choice striker. Leigh Griffiths had filled in for Moussa Dembele when the Frenchman wasn’t available during the Invincible season but chances looked like being rare for Edouard.

A difficult loan spell at Toulouse had stunted his development but the Celtic treatment has transformed Edouard with most of the big clubs in Europe watching closely for the chance to pounce.

Celtic moved swiftly in June 2018 to convert the loan deal into a permanent move with a four year contract signed by the striker.

That deal is now at the half-way stage, similar talents such as Victor Wanyama and Virgil van Dijk left after just two years at Celtic.

Edouard hasn’t said a word out of place since joining Celtic, one day he will move on, it even happened to Henrik Larsson but if the Frenchman stays around to make it 10-in-a-row he’ll be regarded as the greatest striker of this century, other than the legendary Swede by the Celtic support.
