Mike Ashley has strengthened his hold over Ibrox with House of Fraser selling the new Castore kit.

Social media went into meltdown, following lockdown, in midweek when Sports Direct announced that they would be selling the hallowed Castore home shirt from August 1.

Ashley bought House of Fraser in August 2018 in a move to add up upmarket chain to his High Street portfolio.

Despite backing the launch of the new club under Charles Green in 2012 Ashley has become a bogey man for the Ibrox support with Dave King taking the conflict to costly extremes.

In the summer of 2017 King told delighted fans that the contract with Sports Direct was over with thousands flocking to shops to buy up the 2016/17 kit. When the club accounts were published in November 2017 it revealed a £3m pay off to Sports Direct who had a matching rights clause inserted in the new deal.

Tom Beahon of Castore has been on Ibrox social media outlets denying an involvement with Ashley but even the gullible should be able to put two and two together with Sports Direct and House of Fraser the only retailers stocking the Castore kit.
