The opening of a club shop at Ibrox has been put back five days as more doubts begin to emerge about the club’s deal with Castore in the shadow of Sports Direct.

Phil Mac Giolla Bhain shone a deep and probing torch into the so-called new era which revealed a web of litigation and injunctions relating to what the club likes to palm off as legacy issues.

At the start of this month supporters clambered to pay £60 for the new look Castore home shirt but after taking 50,000 sales the ‘best in class’ digital retail operation has packed up. Pre-order options with Sports Direct and House of Fraser lasted less than a week.

Castore owners Phil and Tom Beahon were all over both social and Mainstream media around launch time but appear to have taken a vow of silence over the kit launch.

Delivery of the kit is scheduled for August 1 which was also the date for the opening of the club shop with the design based on ‘best in class’ visits to Madrid, Milan, Barcelona, Munich and Accrington.

Yesterday, after it was revealed that Glasgow City Council hadn’t been paid the fee for a Building Warrant, the club confirmed the delay in the opening of the cherished club shop.

  • The Clubs new Official Online Store will launch at 09.00am on Saturday 1 August on shop.rangers.co.uk
  • The 2020/21 Away Jersey will be launched on the same day and worn by the First team in their opening SPFL Premiership fixture away at Aberdeen
  • The grand opening of The Rangers Store at Ibrox will take place on Thursday 6 August, ahead of the UEFA Europa League fixture vs. Bayer Leverkusen.

Sports Direct have promised sales from August 1- if fans are able to buy kit from the high street before the club store it won’t be the best of starts for a new era at the club. Assuming that the kits are in production.
