Willie Collum will referee Celtic’s opening SPFL match of the season, at home to Hamilton on Sunday.

The experienced Lanarkshire based official has been out of action since the start of March but did take charge of Motherwell’s Closed Doors defeat at Ibrox last week.

Collum refereed two Celtic matches earlier this year, the 5-0 home win over Hearts and the 2-2 draw away to Livingston- the only match in 2020 that Neil Lennon’s side dropped points in.

Alan Muir will be the fourth official with David McGeachie and Drew Kirkland the assistant referees.

The opening match of the season is at Pittodrie with Bobby Madden in charge for the visit of Steven Gerrard’s side.

There are no major rule changes for the new season but clubs will be able to use five substitutes. The reasoning is to reduce burn out on players due to the hectic schedule of fixtures but the change will allow Lennon to keep more of his squad involved.
