Andrew Dickson has decided to delete and issue a half hearted apology after a sick joke about St Mirren.
Last night it was reported that seven St Mirren employees had tested positive for the virus which was a source of amusement for the Sky Sports reporter.
Dicko’s sense of humour linked that news with Birmingham City’s decision to retire their number 22 jersey after Jude Bellingham was sold to Borussia Dortmund for £25m.
Across Twitter Dickson doesn’t make any attempt to disguise his affection for the club and Ibrox- matched by his contempt for Celtic. Seeing a Celtic shirt at Wimbledon was an upsetting experience for the Sky Sports reporter.
Dickson was an employee of Rangers when they went into liquidation, opting to TUPE his contract over to the club founded by Charles Green in 2012 where he gave a famous account of the bibs v non-bibs training session. Later on he compared liquidation to a rebranding of Kit-Kat.
From next week Sky Sports will have exclusive coverage of SPFL fixtures.
My last tweet, which I’ve removed, was a joke relating to Birmingham retiring their number 22 shirt. Thought that was fairly obvious but apologies to those offended if it was taken the wrong way.

Funnily enough Birmingham wasn’t mentioned so we all must be mind readers pic.twitter.com/PHPhqhdha6

I couldn’t believe that the inappropriate comment got more than 60 likes. I then looked at the people who had liked it and it all made sense.

So you’re not really not apologising, but bottled it and deleted your tweet

Joking about a virus that have taken thousands of lives! Disgrace! Grovelling trying to retract what you said. Can’t change what you said! pic.twitter.com/CRIjcBdlOq

Would you have made the joke if it was rangers affected? – we all know the answer to that.

Absolutely, hope everyone makes a full recovery.
