Celtic are hoping to finalise details for a friendly against Dundalk next Saturday.

The weekend before the season starts is traditionally when the final touches are put in place but this season it will just be Celtic’s fourth match after a gap of 131 days.

Celtic had hoped to use the date as a pilot match for having fans inside Celtic Park but Video Celts understands that it will be played Behind Closed Doors with only a few details still to be completed.

With the opening SPFL  match against Hamilton Accies on August 2 the match against Dundalk will give Celtic the chance to use their virtual Season Ticket.

Details of the Virtual Ticket will be sent out this week with the match against the Irish champions allowing the club a dry run of the system before it becomes fully operational.

Dundalk have played friendlies against Derry City, Bohemians and Drogheda but have no fixture scheduled for next weekend ahead of hosting St Pat’s when the League of Ireland resumes on Friday July 31.

In 2019 Dundalk won the LoI title by 11 points and could be potential opponents for Celtic in the Champions League qualifiers.

On Tuesday night Celtic face Paris Saint Germain in the Parc des Princes in the third and final match of their trip to France.
