The keeper had an outstanding season on loan at Celtic but hopes or a repeat move seemed killed off soon after he returned to St Mary’ at the end of June.

Forster had two years left on his contract but had drifted to third choice behind Angus Gunn and Alex McCarthy when he moved to Celtic last August.
