Celtic can forget about an early decision on Fraser Forster returning for next season.

The keeper returned to Southampton at the start of the week for talks with Ralph Hasenhuttl with two years remaining on his contract.

Forster had dropped to third choice keeper at the club when he moved to Celtic but neither Alex McCarthy or Angus Gunn have covered themselves in glory while the former England keeper re-emerged during a season on loan in Scotland.

Celtic were able to agree another season long loan deal for Moi Elyounoussi but with that move secured Neil Lennon is left with a big decision over who is in goals next season.

The EPL season runs until July 26, with Celtic kicking off their bid to win 10-in-a-row on August 1 it looks more likely that Celtic will have to look elsewhere for a goalkeeper.

Covering today’s Southampton media conference Hampshire Live reports:

Mohamed Elyounoussi is going back on loan to Celtic. Is Fraser Forster’s future any clearer and is he part of your plans at Southampton for next season? If he is, what does that mean for Angus Gunn?

“We have not decided yet what we do next season. With our loan players, some did a good job in their clubs and it is also clear that they don’t want to go again on loan, normally they want to go permanently somewhere and we will try to find the right solutions for each player, and when the right moment is to discuss it, we will do.”

Scott Bain will be the only goalkeeper with first team experience in the Celtic squad that heads to Loughborough University on Monday to step up their pre-season build up.
