Alan Nixon believes that Celtic are still haggling over a deal to sign Fraser Forster.

The keeper returned to Southampton at the start of last week with Celtic’s prospects of another loan appearing to go cold despite getting Moi Elyounoussi back for a further season.

Scots-born Nixon is based in the north of England with excellent contacts to many of the leading agents in the game, last month he was first to break the news that Celtic wanted to bring in Gavin Strachan as first team coach.

David Marshall and Joe Hart have both been linked with Celtic but it seems clear that Neil Lennon wants to concentrate all efforts on securing Forster.

In 2014 Southampton paid Celtic £12m to sign the keeper who signed a new five year contract in 2017 which is now appears to be the stumbling block to another Celtic move.

With Craig Gordon joining Hearts there is an element of urgency about the goalkeeping issue with Scott Bain the only keeper at the club with first team experience.
