After over four months in cold storage Chris Jullien was delighted to be back in action as Celtic kicked off their pre-season build up with a 1-1 draw against Nice.

The big defender got 60 minutes under his belt alongside Kris Ajer as Neil Lennon’s squad began their preparations towards the SPFL campaign which begins at home to Hamilton on August 2.

Jullien joined Celtic last summer after the squad had played three matches in Austria and Switzerland which kept him out of the early matches including the Champions League qualifiers against Cluj.

By the time that the Europa League came around Jullien was a key part of the Celtic defence while helping out in attack with the winning goal at home to Lazio.

Celtic looked fit and sharp in tonight’s 1-1 draw with little in the way of rustiness. Kasper Dolberg put the French side ahead in the 37th minute but substitute Patryk Klimala equalised in the 73rd minute.

Jullien will have the briefest of rests tomorrow before Saturday’s match against Lyon with the French trip completed on Tuesday when Celtic visit the Parc des Princes to take on Paris Saint Germain.
