Ross Doohan is a transfer target for Ross County.

The keeper has spent the last two seasons on loan at Ayr United, after 81 first team appearances stepping up to the Premiership would be ideal for his development.

Last season was County’s first season back in the top flight with solo boss Steve Kettlewell wanting to bring in the young Celtic keeper to challenge Ross Laidlaw for a first team place.

Celtic have their own goalkeeping issues at the moment but without any Premiership appearances Doohan would only be pressed into action in an emergency.

The Daily Record reports:

Ross County have lined up a deal for Ross Doohan – as soon as Celtic can land another keeper. The Scotland Under-21 cap is set to join the Staggies on loan.

A deal has been agreed in principle between the two clubs and should be rubber-stamped as soon as the Premiership champions can bring in another experienced shot-stopper.

Celtic only have Scott Bain, Connor Hazard and Doohan so they will only let the latter go when they are able to bring another experienced goalie in.

Hazard spent time on loan at Dundee last season and will also be looking to get out on loan once Celtic bring in a new keeper but with the Championship not starting till October he may have to look to England.

Joe Hart, David Marshall and Fraser Forster have all been linked with a move to Celtic where goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods will have an important influence on who is brought in.
