Celtic’s interest in Albian Ajeti seems to have stalled with the players agent refusing to discuss a potential move to Celtic.
Last week it was almost being presented as a Mission Accomplished with claims that Celtic and West Ham had agreed a season long loan for the striker with an option to buy in 2021.
Those plans took a jolt when Ajeti returned to Switzerland rather than check in for a medical with Celtic.
Normally agents can be relied on to talk up any interest in the client but when Arber Sakiri, the agent for Ajeti, was contacted by the Daily Record he wasn’t prepared to play ball.
For the moment, there is nothing to say. He is still a player of West Ham. It is normal that we have some calls here and some calls there and people are talking about this.
It is also normal that people are talking about something and some interest here or there, maybe that’s true. From our side, there is nothing to say.
Although the transfer window remains open until October 5 Celtic face a Champions League qualifier in a fortnight’s time.
Neil Lennon has highlighted bringing in a new striker as a priority but judging by the comments of his agent Ajeti is in no rush to make a decision on his future.
In the season just finished the former Basel striker failed to score in 10 substitute appearances in the EPL.
