Celtic’s luck of the draw continued into the Second Round of the Champions League qualifier against Ferencvaros or Swedish champions Djurgardens.

All matches at this stage are subject to travel and quarantine restrictions with the match either being played at Celtic Park or a neutral venue provided Celtic get past KR Reykjavic in the first qualifying round.

Getting what looks like a home draw is critical with the rounds decided by one match, as a bonus Celtic avoided another meeting with Romanian champions Cluj. Regardless of who Celtic were paired against the 1-1 draw at Kilmarnock saw a wave of fans looking for investment in the team, specifically in central defence.

The Second Round ties are scheduled for August 25 or 26 which follows Celtic’s visit to face Dundee United at Tannadice.

Even allowing for the matches being played at a neutral venue the two fixtures drawn so far give Celtic a great opportunity to get through to the third qualifying round which won’t be played until September 15 which follows a trip to Ross County the previous weekend.
