Celtic have revived their interest in Albian Ajeti, according to Sky Sports.
The striker barely got a look in at West Ham following his transfer from Basel. Under Mannuel Pellegrini and Davie Moyes he managed just 10 substitute appearances in the EPL.
Last week it seemed that Celtic and West Ham had agreed terms on a season long loan deal but Ajeti opted to return to Switzerland to take a break and consider his options.
Steven Fletcher and Ivan Toney have both been linked with moves to Celtic but as Neil Lennon looks to add a striker it seems that there could be life in their interest in Ajeti.
At 17.10 on their Transfer Blog Sky Sports report:
Celtic boss Neil Lennon held further discussions with Albian Ajeti’s representatives at the weekend over his proposed switch from West Ham to the Scottish champions.
Last month, the two clubs had agreed a loan deal with an option to make it permanent for a fee of around £5million, but the move was put on hold last week after the Switzerland international asked for more time to consider his options in his pursuit of first team action.
Sky Sports News understands the player’s original preference was to stay in the Premier League, but he also sees European football with Celtic as a very tempting prospect.
Ajeti, who is attracting interest from West Brom and a number of Premier League and European clubs, is not in a rush to make a decision and is currently holidaying in Sardinia as he ponders his next move.
Three years ago Ajeti was a team-mate of Moi Elyounoussi at Basel, after a disappointing first season in the EPL the Norwegian rediscovered his form at Celtic.
Whether Ajeti opts to take the same path remains to be seen with Celtic appearing to be on the front foot as they attempt to bring in a new striker.
