Boli Bolingoli was almost a Middlesbrough player last week!

At exactly the time he was making his ill-fated trip to Malaga the Championship side were making an enquiry about taking the Belgian out on loan.

Celtic paid a reported £2.5m to sign Bolingoli from Rapid Vienna but even before his Spanish trip his value had nose-dived.

With Greg Taylor the only other left-back in the first team squad Neil Lennon is short of options, now he will have a very difficult job trying to find an exit route for Bolingoli.

Picking up on an interview with Neil Warnock The Sun reports:

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I rang Celtic last week to try and get Bolingoli on loan, good job we didn’t get him.”

Asked if he would make another move for the full-back he replied: “No I don’t think so.”

Bolingoli signed a four year contract with Celtic currently taking internal action with the possibility of punishment coming from the football authorities.

While the 25-year-old seems highly unlikely to play for Celtic again it makes signing a new left-back a priority for Neil Lennon.
