Chris Sutton has delivered a brutal verdict on Tom Rogic just as Neil Lennon has confirmed interest from another club in the midfielder.

The Australian delivered many of the highlights of the first parts in the Treble Treble but now finds himself fifth choice for three midfield places.

Doubts over his fitness and a reluctance to play on plastic pitches have contributed to the present situation with Ryan Christie emerging from the wilderness to become a first pick on the back of two storming years pinging in goals from the middle of the park.

Last season the 27-year-old started just six SPFL matches with Sutton eyeing up a replacement virtually on Celtic’s doorstep.

While discussing Olivier Ntcham in the Daily Record, Sutton turned his thoughts to another of Neil Lennon’s midfielders:

The fact Tom Rogic looks to be leaving is going to give more opportunity. The Australian has lost his way

No one was a bigger fan than me during his purple patch under Brendan Rodgers but he’s simply not reliable enough in terms of fitness these days.

David Turnbull is being watched but he’s got nowhere the experience and nous of Ntcham at this stage of his career and in my opinion the club has to make sure they get past October 5 with the Frenchman still happy to be in the building.

Lennon has stated clearly that he has big players he needs and wants to keep for this season. I believe Ntcham is one of them. It’s the manager’s job to make the player feel the same way.

After undergoing knee surgery last year following his Celtic medical Turnbull is back in the Motherwell side and appears to be back to his form of the 2018/19 season with one goal from four appearances.
