A civil war has broken out among Ibrox fan groups as supporters suddenly realise that they have been sold another pig in a poke through the Castore kit deal.
Social media has increasingly been filled with stories of shoddy products and non-existent customer service as the ‘best never stops’ Castore kits go public.
Letters and logos appear to be falling off the kit, refund claims are being ignored with the Castore lads Tom and Phil Beahon being downgraded to Scouse chancers or worse.
When Castore were announced as the clubs third retail partner in three years Tom and Phil were greeted as revolutionaries, using their small town premises in Liverpool to cut Nike and Adidas down to size.
Key to the process was to patronise fan media with various websites and podcasts told about the global brand, worldwide appeal and all the usual sound-bites to get the gullible to hand put their bank cards on overtime.
The Four Lads podcast was used to play down claims of a relationship with Sports Direct but soon afterwards they opted out of having media privileges to ensure their continued independence.
Hearts & Hand plus Follow Follow have remained on message but with supporters losing patience Four Lads have admitted that they were fed a pack of lies from the club and Castore.
Picking up on the mud-slinging following the Four Lads Podcast The Sun reports:
The club’s away kit was then launched on August 1 just days before the new-look Ibrox megastore re-opened its doors on August 6 with Gers’ black and orange third kit unveiled by the club’s Twitter account prior to their home match against St Mirren on August 9.
Castore co-founder Tom Beahon has previously spoken to the Four Lads Had a Dream podcast where he insisted the away strip was nothing like any leaked images.
But they have now accused the brand of ‘feeding the support lie after lie’ and using their podcast to ‘mislead supporters’.
One supporter on Twitter under the usernamename @chr1sbett said: “I stopped listening to Castore the minute they said the leaks weren’t accurate and then the leaks were accurate.”
And Four Lads said: “Yes I’m afraid they did tell me that, Chris is correct. Amongst other things they seem to have misled the support on.”
They added: “This is the fine line between using fan media and a vehicle for just feeding the support lie after lie. Castore have not came across well at all.”
Gers pub the Loudern Tavern then attempted to defend Castore, saying: “Mate, anyone with common sense knows why they had to deflect from that. That’s not a ‘lie after lie’ situation.
“That’s just trying to fight the counterfeiters which we’ve all seen dominate football. Criticise them by all means but put it in context.”
Below are some of the social media comments that are darkening the name of Castore and their attempt at global domination. Despite taking on the Ibrox deal they haven’t yet added another football club to their portfolio.
It’s a deliberate template, that the logo isn’t straight… That’s Castore. pic.twitter.com/oKDVCiAH6p
