Odsonne Edouard has hit back at Frank McAvennie’s claim that he doesn’t look interested.

The former St Mirren and West Ham striker has been trying hard to carve a career in the media with his comments based on last week’s friendly match against Ross County.

Edouard failed to find the net in Celtic’s pre-season fixturesbut an hour into today’s competitive opener he had bagged a hat-trick and shows no sign of trying to engineer a move to West Ham.

That tweet confirms that Edouard doesn’t live in a bubble and knows what is going on in and around the Glasgow football scene.

Since he arrived at Celtic as a teenager the striker has been a model of professionalism, training on time, avoiding any controversy off the pitch and concentrating fully on improving his game.

Perhaps if McAvennie had applied the same principles his opinion would carry some credibility. If the rest of the Celtic squad remain as uninterested as Edouard it looks like there will again be plenty to celebrate in May.

Last season Charlie Nicholas expressed his frustration that Edouard didn’t celebrate enough when he scored, the French u-21 internationalist has won more for Celtic that the two golden oldies combined.
