Chris Sutton led the praise for Odsonne Edouard as the striker bagged an opening day hat-trick in Celtic’s 5-1 win over Hamilton Accies.

The Frenchman was the top scorer in last season’s SPFL and got off to a flying start with three goals inside the opening hour of today’s match.

There was a touch of class about each strike as Edouard showed the full range of his ability and the importance he holds in the Celtic side.

Dropping deep he caused fear in the Accies defence, inside the penalty box every movement was geared towards finding the net either for himself or a team-mate.

Jeremie Frimpong and Patryk Klimala were the other scorers but it was the performance of Edouard that will grab most of the headlines and attention.

Last season the French u-21 internationalist scored 22 SPFL goal from 25 starting appearances with two more coming off the bench, with three in one from this season every Celtic fan will be hoping that French Eddie can make an even bigger contribution to the remaining 37 matches.
