Glasgow’s newest radio station- Go Radio- has nailed their colours to the mast with a special partnership announced with the club from Ibrox.

Any media outlet based in the city needs to strike up favourable contacts with the biggest influences in town but formalising and publicising the deal isn’t the wisest move.

Go Radio has launched a daily football show with Si Ferry providing some balance to the opinions of Barry Ferguson and Rob MacLean who continues to enjoy regular work with BBC Scotland.

Strangely Go have been quiet on their new sporting partnership but the Ibrox club were quick to promote the link up

Head of Communications and Media Relations, David Graham commented:

“Go Radio approached us during the extended off season in anticipation of their launch. We were impressed with their vision and perspective of Scottish football.”

“We look forward to developing this relationship and others, as we extend our partnerships both domestically and internationally. Rangers will continue to engage and develop relationships within the media industry, with the Go Radio partnership a signal of our commitment to continuously develop.”

Go Radio seem to be the latest station to try and challenge the might of Radio Clyde across the west of Scotland.

Doing so in the middle of the biggest economic slump in 100 years could either be a bold mark of genius or see the new station go the same way as David Murray’s Sunday Scot newspaper which barely lasted a few weeks trying to take on the traditional big hitters despite being the pet project of the former Ibrox supremo.

On Sunday fan podcast Heart & Hand will be the official match sponsor for the visit of St Mirren. Andrew Dallas and Douglas Ross will be among the match officials.
