After a 13 day break Celtic returned to SPFL action with a 1-0 win away to Dundee United.

Albian Ajeti was the goal hero, coming off the bench in the 73rd minute then scoring 10 minutes later after a brilliant Ryan Christie shot was parried by United keeper Benji Siegrist.

The former West Ham striker headed the rebound, Odsonne Edouard had his shot blocked but Ajeti smashed the ball past three defenders from six yards out to claim his first Celtic goal.

Celtic had managed over 20 attempts on goal and had 64% possession but lacked some sharpness around goal as United hung on for a point.

Ajeti and James Forrest replaced Moi Elyounoussi and Olivier Ntcham as Celtic threw everything at making the breakthrough.

Neil Lennon will assess the fitness of his squad before preparing his side for two home matches, against Ferencvaros and Motherwell before taking stock at the first international break of the season.
