Chris Sutton has branded Boli Bolingoli an idiot for halting Celtic’s season and bringing Scottish football a yellow card.
The defender faces action from the SFA while Celtic conduct an internal investigation into his infamous day trip to Malaga.
Sutton has been through almost every experience since he joined Celtic 20 years ago but nothing could have prepared him for the events of the last week.
Celtic’s build up to the opening Champions League qualifier had been almost ideal but on Tuesday the season came to a halt with two matches postponed and a cloud over the whole club when they return to action.
Sutton appeared on BT Sport tonight with The Sun picking up his blunt message on the biggest talking point in the Scottish game.
Bolingoli is an idiot. He certainly wouldn’t, back in my day, have gotten back into the dressing room. He wouldn’t be wanted.
He is a guy who has to leave the club now. It is shameful what he did. He let the whole club down, the players in the dressing room and had no thought for them, his manager or the support. Only himself.
He’s had his head up his backside and he needs to go as soon as possible, and he won’t be missed.
French side Amiens are reported to be interested in taking Bolingoli on loan although it’s difficult to find the attraction in a player with such disregard for the welfare of his club and team-mates.
Neil Lennon won’t discuss the matter until Monday when he hosts a media conference to preview the Champions League qualifier against KR Reykjavik.
