Celtic fans turned their anger towards Peter Lawwell after today’s 1-1 draw at Kilmarnock.

The weaknesses in the squad were obvious today as they enjoyed 70% possession at Rugby Park but managed just one shot on target while dropping wo points.

Since the squad returned to pre-season training it was obvious that there was a lack of competition in central defence while Leigh Griffith’s on-going issues leads to an over reliance on Odsonne Edouard.

Chris Jullien and Kris Ajer struggled throughout today’s match with Edouard shackled for space by the Killie defenders cutting down on Celtic’s offensive options.

Patryk Klimala was thrown on midway through the second half but it was the first time this season that he has played alongside Edouard with no genuine chances created.

All of these issues have been known for some time. Klimala was signed in January but is still unproven while the defensive options were thin even before Jozo Simunovic was released.

So far in the transfer market Celtic have replaced Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon with Vasilis Barkas with Moi Elyounoussi returning on another season long loan deal.

Steven Fletcher, Albian Ajeti and Ivan Toney have been speculated on over the last two weeks but with the first points of the season dropped and the Champions League just over a week away fans are looking for leadership from the board and statements of intent to ensure a historic season is properly sourced.
