Alfredo Morelos’ dream move to Lille is no hanging in the balance.

Following two years of Scottish based speculation linking the Ibrox goal ace with clubs in China, France, Turkey, Mexico and England a tweet from France 10 days ago suggested that a club may be duped into putting in an offer.

Morelos had apparently agreed personal terms but contact between the two clubs was minimal with Lille looking at a number of striker options.

The Daily Record told their army of readers that the Ibrox club was bracing itself for bids of £17m or more but now it seems to have taken an all too familiar path.

The Sun reports:

ALFREDO MORELOS’ move to Lille is hanging in the balance — and could depend on whether the French club land their No?1 target instead.

Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard revealed before his side’s weekend win at Aberdeen that Lille were “nowhere near” agreeing a deal for the Colombian striker.

The Ligue 1 side have seen two bids for Gent striker Jonathan David rejected, with the Belgian outfit holding out for £27million for the Canadian international.

David, also a target for English Premier League new boys Leeds and German side Borussia Moenchengladbach, has told Gent he only wants to move to Lille.

The Belgians believe Lille will eventually meet their demands and have already started searching for his replacement.

Meanwhile Morelos will go in search of his first SPFL goal of 2022 when St Mirren visit Ibrox on Sunday.

The Colombian will get the chance to showcase his talent to an international audience on Thursday when Gerrard’s side take on Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League, trailing 3-1 from the first leg at Ibrox.
