Neil Lennon has confirmed that he is looking to sign a new centre-half.

The departure of Jozo Simunovic has left Chris Jullien and Kris Ajer as the only regular central defenders with Nir Bitton, Hatem Abd Elhamed and Stephen Welsh as alternatives.

None of those three have much experience of playing in that position in the Scottish game with Lennon keen to bring in a tried and tested centre-half.

Yesterday a report from France claimed that Nice defender Christophe Herelle had turned down the chance of a move to Celtic but other than that there hasn’t been much speculation about that position.

I need a centre half in because Jozo (Simunovic), we didn’t take the option up with Jozo and I think that we need to add to the centre-forward position.

So far Vasilas Barkas is the only permanent signing that Celtic have brought in since the transfer window opened.

On Sunday the draw will be made for the first two qualifying rounds of the Champions League with Lennon looking to make up for the disappointment of losing out to Cluj in the Third Qualifying Round last season.
