Neil Lennon hasn’t ruled out bringing in new signings for Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier against Ferencvaros.

So far Vasilis Barkos and Albian Ajeti have been signed with both contributing to the 1-0 win over Dundee United.

Barkas looked confident and assured, dealing well with one second half shot while Ajeti came off the bench to score the only goal of the game.

It appears that ready made first team players are the priority rather than development projects with reaching the group stage of the Champions League this season more important than ever.

Two wildcard signings can be added by 11pm on Monday with Lennon speaking to BBC Scotland after the 1-0 win at Dundee United:

We’re actively looking to bring a couple more [players] in. Whether or not we can get it done by the deadline on Monday, I couldn’t tell.

Nir Bitton partnered Chris Jullien in central defence yesterday with Lennon admitting to making a tentative enquiry about Shane Duffy.

With the English leagues finishing more than a month ago it’s unlikely that Duffy or anyone else from the EPL would be ready to get pitched straight in to a Champions League qualifier on Wednesday.

After Sunday’s SPFL match at home to Motherwell there is an international break, if Celtic beat Ferencvaros they will face a third Champions League qualifier on September 14/15.
