Steven Naismith believes that Steven Gerrard has been turning down big money offers for Alfredo Morelos.

Outside of Scotland and Colombia there is barely any interest in the former HJK Helsinki striker who has scored in one league match in 2020.

On a weekly basis stories have been created about clubs preparing an offer/ poised to bid/ keeping tabs on Morelos with interest inevitably fizzing out.

The hysteria seemed to hit a peak in December when Gerrard and Dave King spoke about knocking back bids of £40m just as their star asset picked up two more red cards and stopped finding the net.

Incidents at the end of last week resulted in Morelos being dropped from the 20-man squad to face Kilmarnock with wee Naisy telling The Sun that is time to cash in!

I think it would be best all round that Rangers get the money they expect and Morelos moves on.

I think he has shown since they have come back, and the manager has referenced it, that he isn’t fully focused on the job at hand. Especially this season, you can’t afford to have anyone who is risking the team performance.

With Kent at this moment in time he is too valuable. He has probably one of the only players who can do a bit of magic with his sharpness and quick feet that can win them a game which is very tough.

Away to places like Aberdeen, Hibs, they are tough and in those games you really need a matchwinner. With Morelos’ future up in the air, Kent is the next one that is that man they go to.

As any investor will tell the Hearts striker, the time to cash in isn’t when demand has virtually disappeared.
