Darragh MacAnthony has refused to confirm a claim by TalkSPORT that Peterborough have accepted an offer from Bretford to sign Ivan Toney.

Claims about Celtic’s interest in the striker have been coming out of Peterborough over the last month with Director of Football Barry Fry claiming that the Scottish champions were the preferred option for the player.

Toney has a year left on his Peterborough deal but his club is well versed at conducting transfer business in the most public manner.

The signing of Albian Ajeti would seem to have ended Celtic’s interest in Toney but with the best part of two months still to go in the transfer window nothing can be ruled in or out.

With 24 goals from 32 appearances in League One last season Toney came to the attention of Bretford’s Moneyball recruitment programme.

After missing out on promotion to neighbours Fulham Brentford are likely to lose some of their top players, as MacAnthony states if they strike a deal for Toney it will be announced by Peterborough.
