A report in The Sun claims that Celtic have convinced West Ham and Albian Ajeti to make his move to Glasgow a permanent switch.

The striker arrived in Scotland yesterday and looks on course to give Celtic a serious improvement in firepower.

For much of the last two seasons Odsonne Edouard has been a one man strike force with only a two month burst of form from Leigh Griffiths offering an alternative source of goals.

Ajeti looks like reviving that option for Neil Lennon who watched his side hit top gear last season when his side switched to a 3-5-2 formation.

The Sun reports:

The 23-year-old was initially expected to sign on loan, with an option to buy but the champions have now agreed a £5m deal to sign him permanently.

Celtic initially declared an interest in Ajeti weeks ago after West Ham made him available. The Switzerland cap asked for time to consider his future.

But after fresh talks a deal was thrashed out and he will now become a Celtic player — barring any last-minute hitch.

Parkhead chiefs put on a plane to take him from Basel to Glasgow airport early yesterday. Ajeti then checked into a city- centre hotel before being given a tour of Celtic’s facilities. He will undergo a medical before putting the finishing touches to his Hoops deal.

Ajeti had an impressive scoring record at Basel which attracted an £8m move to West Ham last summer but his time in London failed to kick on.

At Basel he was a team-mate of Moi Elyounoussi, if they can recreate the partnership that they enjoyed in Switzerland Lennon will have a very potent weapon when his side resume action next week.
