Neil Lennon has admitted to tentative enquires about signing Shane Duffy.

The defender seems to have become surplus to requirements at Brighton with a new central defender the priority area for the Celtic boss.

Duffy hasn’t made any secret of his support for Celtic but with a contract that runs until 2023 and interest from other EPL clubs any transfer will be much more complex than it appears on the surface.

Asking Lennon about Duffy OTB Sports reports:

“We have made tentative enquiries,” confirmed Lennon at OTB Sport’s UEFA Champions League Final preview night in association with Pepsi Max and Doritos, “and we’ll see how that goes.”

Jozo Simunovic left Celtic at the end of last season leaving Chris Jullien and Kris Ajer as the only regular central defenders at the club.

Nir Bitton replaced Ajer in the 6-0 win over KR Reykjavik but Duffy offers a completely different option as an out and out defender.

West Ham appear to be the club with the strongest interest in Duffy with Davie Moyes working with the defender during the early stages of his career at Everton.
