Neil Lennon has confirmed that talks are ongoing to bring Albian Ajeti to Celtic on a season long loan.

The West Ham striker seemed to be bound for Glasgow last week after both clubs agreed terms but the former Basel man returned to Switzerland for a break after a 12 month season in London.

Celtic have since been linked with Steven Fletcher and Ivan Toney but it seems like a loan with an option to buy is getting closer for Ajeti.

Lennon has made bringing in another striker a priority with the likely arrival of Ajeto coupled with Vakoun Bayo going on loan to Toulouse considerably strengthening the Celtic’s bosses firepower.

Bayo was signed in January 2019 but has made little impact, failing to be involved in any of Celtic’s pre-season matches due to a hamstring injury.

Celtic paid a reported £2m to Dunajska Strenda to sign Bayo but unless he suddenly hits the goal trail in France will have to write off most of that fee, Bayo is under contract until December 2022
