Celtic’s Belfast boost

Moi Elyounoussi opened the scoring last night as Norway hammered Northern Ireland 5-1 at Windsor Park.

The Celtic winger scored after just two minutes before Alfie Haarland took over with the visitors 3-1 up before the half hour mark.

Norway lost 2-1 at home to Austria on Friday but shrugged that set-back aside as they hit top gear with Steve Davis overwhelmed as he matched Pat Jennings’ record of 119 international caps.

Elyounoussi has put in a couple of indifferent performances for Celtic recently but a goal in a strong international away win should provide him with the perfect boost.

Kris Ajer was virtually untroubled in central defence while former Celt Stefan Johansen captained the Norwegians from midfield.

Next month Norway face Serbia in the semi-final of the last Nations League with the winner of that match at home to Scotland or Israel for a place in next summer’s European Championship Finals.
