The Daily Record has returned to Porto in an effort to find a club willing to pay Dembele dollars for Alfredo Morelos.

Two and a half years on from mystery bids from Chinese clubs it seems that the chunky Colombian striker is still no closer to finding an escape route out of Ibrox.

Lille have been extensively linked with Morelos but other than a highly suspicious appearance from their President with Jim White on TalkSPORT there has been nothing of substance to suggest a move for the former HJK Helsinki starlet.

With Cedric Itten and Kemar Roofe added to his squad Steven Gerrard now has the difficult task of selling Morelos or looking at his disinterested face sitting on the bench.

Every possible angle has been used to conjure up a move, today the Daily Record reports:

Porto could be ready to make their move to take Morelos to Portugal after agreeing a deal to sign young striker Fabio Silva to Wolves for £40m.

While much of that money will be going directly into the pockets of Silva’s agent, it does free up a spot in the front line that they could look to fill with Morelos.

Morelos scored in both games against the Portuguese giants last season in the Europa League as Rangers won 2-0 at Ibrox and drew 1-1 at the Estadio do Dragao.

Porto were impressed with him and reports in Portugal suggested they could make a move soon.

They also might not.

Scoring in one league match in 2020 is a little more relevant than the fabled 28 goals before new year in the 2019/20 season. Seven red cards in 18 months and a complete failure to score against Celtic in three years of trying loom large on Alf’s CV.
