Mitchel Bakker has revealed that he hasn’t heard anything about interest from Celtic.

Last week, without any direct quote from either club, it was reported that Paris Saint Germain had issued a ‘not now’ reply to Celtic’s enquiry about taking the defender on loan.

Three years ago Celtic took Odsonne Edouard on loan from PSG but the circumstances were very different with the striker far down the pecking order after an indifferent loan spell at Toulouse.

Bakker seems far closer to breaking into the PSG first team with his thoughts focussed on getting a regular game for the Champions League finalists.

The Sun reports Bakker saying:

I haven’t heard about Celtic, but I want to stay with PSG and my hope is to get even more playing time. When I look around at the club I see players like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

And I am playing with them. Normally at such a young age as I am, you don’t get to experience that, so I aim to cherish it. I played in both the French cup finals at the end of the season and I think I did all right.

I learned a lot from Thiago Silva before he went to Chelsea. If he sees something, he’s quick to tell you. So I am having fun here and I hope to get even more game time this season too.

Bringing in a left-sided player to compete with Greg Taylor seems to be a priority for Neil Lennon with Celtic reported to have made an offer for Alfie Doughty of Charlton.

With Jonny Hayes released and Boli Bolingoli suspended Taylor is the only current option to play left-back or left wing-back.
