Steven Gerrard faces an injury sweat over Borna Barisic.

The defender played in Croatia’s 4-1 hammering from Portugal but was left out of the defeat from France due to a knee injury.

With Jon Flanagan and Andy Halliday released at the end of last season former Leicester starlet Calvin Bassey is next in line to fill in at left-back.

Barasic has started every game so far this season but will need to be assessed by the Ibrox medical team this week before deciding if he can play against Dundee United.

The Sun reports:

Croatian FA team doctor Zoran Bahtijarevic has revealed why manager Zlatko Dalic opted to leave the Rangers full back on the bench for 90 minutes.

He said: “Borna Barisic got a knock on his knee against Portugal. I couldn’t say with certainty that he would have been fully ready for the match in France.”

Steven Davis returns to Murray Park on the back of joining Pat Jennings as Northern Ireland’s most capped player, picking up his 116th cap in the 5-1 skudding from Norway at Windsor Park on Monday night.
