Alfredo Morelos is facing a two week spell on the sidelines after being injured against Dundee United on Saturday.

The chunky striker appeared as a first half sub after Brandon Barker suffered a hamstring pull but was then stretchered off early in the second half.

Steven Gerrard dipped into his big pot of paranoia in his post match comments with a campaign underway to apply retrospective punishment to United defender Ryan Edwards.

After the match Gerrard said that he was hopeful that his star man would be fit to face Lincoln Red Imps on Thursday but now he will have to plan on being without Morelos for Thursday’s Europa League tie, Sunday’s match against Hibs and probably next weekends game away to Motherwell.

The Daily Record reports:

Alfredo Morelos is out of Thursday’s Europa League trip to Gibraltar – and Ryan Edwards will find out on Tuesday if he’ll pay a price for injuring the Rangers striker.

Morelos was stretched off with a gash above his knee on Saturday and has been told that he’ll likely miss the next two weeks. The Colombian met with his agent Michael Gorman in Glasgow on Monday but there’s been no fresh bids.

Gerrard should be able to call on Jermain Defoe on Thursday but a two week absence makes the prospects of a transfer bid coming in for Morelos even less unlikely.
