James Forrest will miss Sunday’s match against Hibs and looks doubtful for next Thursday’s trip to Sarajevo.

Just past the half hour mark the winger picked up a knock and instantly knew that there was no chance of continuing.

Jeremie Frimpong had a major impact on the match as Celtic’s main creator but the loss of Forrest further reduces Celtic’s wing options with Mikey Johnston still to make an appearance this season.

The Sun reports:

The major negative on the night was the sight of James Forrest going off injured in the first half, to be replaced by Frimpong. Lennon confirmed the winger is out of Sunday’s Parkhead clash with Hibs and admitted he is sweating on the results of a scan on his ankle.

Lennon, who said Odsonne Edouard was “fine” after he was subbed eight minutes from time, added: “He’s got bone bruising in his ankle so we’ll have to see. It’ll have to be scanned either tomorrow or Saturday so he’ll not make the weekend.”

It looks like Frimpong will be a certain starter against Hibs and Sarajevo with Karamoko Dembele the only other natural for that side of the park. Ryan Christie could be moved to the right but is much more comfortable through the centre.

Albian Ajeti and Moi Elyounoussi were the other subs used last night with a late late strike from the on-loan Southampton man deciding the match and preventing extra-time.
