Neil Lennon believes that ‘proper boots’ helped turn Jeremy Frimpong into a match-winner!
In Lennon’s day almost everyone wore black boots with the occasional flash or showy player deciding to go for white boots.
Frimpong is of the generation that prefers pink, lemon and other pastel shades on their feet but was back to all black last night as he constantly tested the Riga defence.
Twice in the latter stages he sent in crosses that whizzed along the goal-line but with two minutes left on the clock his pass found Moi Elyounoussi who scored the goal that booked a Play Off tie away to Sarajevo.
?? NL: “Jerry (Frimpong) is starting to look more like himself. He’s got a proper pair of boots on and he looks more comfortable. He gave us that verve and that impetus going forward. We looked strong at the back, strong in midfield with good fitness levels.” #RIGCEL

With James Forrest injured Frimpong looks certain to start Sunday’s home match against Hibs as Celtic return to domestic action.
The introduction of the former Manchester City kid last autumn gave Celtic a major lift but his appearances became rationed when Lennon switched to 3-5-2 after the winter break.
With Shane Duffy on the right of a back three Frimpong now has ample defensive cover as he charges down the right putting opponents on the back foot.
Well played Jeremie Frimpong??
