Odsonne Edouard has travelled with the French u-21 squad for a double header away to Georgia and Azerbaijan.

The striker missed Celtic’s matches at home to Ferencvaros and Motherwell due to a thigh strain but will clock up the air miles before Celtic take on Ross County of September 12.

Edouard was on the end of some typical physical abuse from Mark Connolly during Celtic’s win over Dundee United with referee Andrew Dallas showing little interest in disciplining the defender.

Getting the former Paris Saint Germain back to full fitness will be a priority for Neil Lennon but Edouard’s schedule while nursing an injury will be a concern.

The Sun reports:

Edouard was filmed taking part in the warm-up with Sylvain Ripoll’s squad during a session in Tbilisi on Wednesday night. France under-21s face Georgia on Friday night before an away clash with Azerbaijan on Monday night.

International breaks are traditionally a concerning time for club managers with Albian Ajeti also involved with the Swiss international squad.

Getting those two strikers together will be a major part of Lennon’s plans for the season but with reports of interest in the French striker from clubs across Europe there are no guarantees over his future at Celtic despite having two years to run on his contract.
