A report from Italy has claimed that discussions for the transfer of Boli Bolingoli to Roma were expected to take place today.

Even before his decision to take a day trip to Malaga came to light there were serious question marks over the Belgian’s future at Celtic Park.

Bolingoli was a regular in Neil Lennon’s side for the first three months of last season but after being injured he was left on the sidelines as Jonny Hayes and Greg Taylor shared duties at left-back.

Neil Lennon has been mindful of Employment Law in his recent comments about Bolingoli and it was notable that there was no comment from Celtic after their defender was hit with a three match SFA ban.

A move to Roma would solve a number of issues at a stroke with Tuttomercatoweb reporting:

In fact, the arrival of Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo is approaching, a left-handed winger owned by Celtic Glasgow who is also followed with interest by Basaksehir in Turkey and in Belgium by Anderlecht and Antwerp. New contacts between the parties are expected during the day.

Celtic paid around £2.5m to Rapid Vienna a year ago for Bolingoli who is under contract until 2023.
