For the third weekend running the SFA have awarded Douglas Ross an appointment in Glasgow.

The leader of the Scottish Tories was on the line for Celtic’s win over Hibs yesterday, last weekend he made the journey and mileage claim from his home in Moray to wave a flag for the visit of Livingston. Next Sunday it is a slight change in direction to Ibrox for the visit of Ross County.

On a normal weekend the SFA need to supply42 assistant referees to the SPFL plus hundreds more officials for the Lowland and Highland Leagues plus various Junior matches and down into the amateurs.

With just 12 assistant referee appointments available each week it seems incredible that Ross gets matches over three successive weekends. Some might consider it reckless sending him on a 400 mile round trip during a pandemic that has left much of the country in virtual Lockdown.

There may be another explanation in that the SFA are providing the appointments in the central belt to assist Ross’ political diary where he is working non-stop to save his beloved union.

With Monday to Thursday spent in Westminster getting Glasgow fixtures is very convenient as he engages in party meetings and media appointments to fly the flag for the Unionist cause.

The Scottish Tories recently appointed Glasgow based Russell Findlay as their Communications Manager with the former Daily Record and Sun reporter based in Glasgow.
