AC Milan are preparing a £15m bid for Kris Ajer.

In one of the longest running sagas of the transfer window the Italian side were first linked with the defender in March before football moved into Lockdown.

Since then Ajer has changed agent, Celtic have signed Shane Duffy and lost Jozo Simunovic with Neil Lennon settling his side back into a 3-5-2 formation.

Anthony Joseph was first to report on Celtic’s interest in Albian Ajeti, late on Friday night he tweeted:

Celtic will probably reject that offer but it would in an instant cover the transfer and loan fees for the recruitment of five players- Ajeti, Vasilis Barkas, David Turnbull, Moi Elyounoussi and Duffy.

If the offer was increased towards £20m it would be harder to resist but the payment schedule of fees is important with the quicker the fee is delivered making it more important. A year ago Arsenal paid the full £25m fee in one payment to sign Kieran Tierney.

Ajer has been a key part of the Celtic defence since Lennon took over from Brendan Rodgers, if an offer was accepted a replacement would be required with Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed short term solutions in defence.
