Phil MacGiollabhain has reported that Dermot Desmond summoned a Zoom meeting with Neil Lennon and Peter Lawwell.

The Irish based blogger has a strong track record on Celtic related issues with 42,000 followers on Twitters as well as a popular website.

Desmond prefers to remain hands-off, trusting Lawwell to keep the club steered towards success but at critical times he will intervene being largely responsible for bringing in Martin O’Neill and Brendan Rodgers to take over as manager.

The daily and weekly grumbles of the support seem largely ignored but it seems that the staleness and nature of the derby defeat jarred a few nerves.

MacGiollabhain reports:

Last night a very well-placed source told me the following:

“The Celtic players were still at Parkhead after the match when a call came through to the Chief Executive”

My guy said that the instruction to Mr Lawwell was to “bring the manager with you”.

During the Zoom call, it was pointed out to the Armagh man that the board had fully backed him in the transfer window.

No major asset was sold- I’m told that this on Desmond’s express instructions- and that an array of first-team starters had been signed.

Since Saturday’s result there has been very little to emerge from Celtic while a ferocious blame game is played out on line.

Lennon’s agent mounted a defence on Twitter on Saturday night but earlier today Chris Sutton admitted that if results don’t pick up quickly Lawwell will have to consider a new voice in the dressing room.

Alongside facing their Europa League opponents Celtic take on Aberdeen twice and Motherwell over the next 19 days.
