Celtic fans were in unforgiving mood when Neil Lennon met the media to preview tomorrow’s Europa League tie at home to AC Milan.
Saturday’s Derby defeat hit a raw nerve with fans, a defeat and 2-0 score line isn’t unknown but the lifeless performance on the park and lack of activity in the dug out didn’t sit well with armchair supporters. With the exception of Stephen Welsh almost every player was strongly criticised but no one more so than Lennon.
When the Sky Sports cameras went to the Celtic bench Lennon seemed unusually passive, sitting back with his arms folded as a vital match slipped away with barely a whimper.
Moi Elyounoussi and Olivier Ntcham came in for most criticism online but there aren’t a surplus of options for Lennon to change his side for tomorrow’s Europa League tie.
Playing the team at the top of Serie A is never straight-forward, tomorrow it will be as tough as ever with an unforgiving audience at home needing convinced that Saturday was the low point of the season, not to be repeated.
?? NL on squad: “Ryan Christie will be back in the squad. Odsonne is undergoing some health and safety tests so that we can be as safe as possible for his return. We’re hoping to have him back for the weekend. Jullien and Forrest are still out.” #CELACM #UEL

Rodgers came in and hugely improved the club behind the scenes. It’s taken Lennon 18 months to dismantle it. Players picking up unknown, niggling injuries. That never happened under a professional.

Just play our most experienced players in a balanced team, you know, with actual CFs playing as CFs, that’d be a great place to start ?
