Celtic summer target scores an absolute screamer

Mark McKenzie scored a stunning equaliser away to DC United to remind Celtic that there is more to his game than defending.

The Philadelphia Union defender was touted for a summer move to Celtic but the arrival of Shane Duffy on loan closed the door on that deal.

With the Irishman on loan until the end of the season and Kris Ajer entering the final year of his contract it wouldn’t be a surprise if Celtic revived their interest in McKenzie next summer.

Although it took a slight deflection there is no doubting the speed or connection McKenzie made to secure a 2-2 draw for his side away to DC United.

The 22-year-old has played 20 matches this season with Lockdown putting a hold on much of the expected transfer activity. Like most native talents in the MLS McKenzie wants to earn a move to Europe with his form and international pedigree making that prospect likely in 2021.
