Andrew Dallas will referee next Sunday’s match between Motherwell and Celtic- the third time in 12 SPFL Premiership games that the Lanarkshire based referee has been in charge of Neil Lennon’s side.

For good measure Dallas Jnr has also been fourth official twice this season including Sunday’s 3-3 draw away to Aberdeen.

Already this season the Lanarkshire based official has been in charge of Celtic’s visits to Dundee United and Ross County, the Fir Park fixture will mean that he has been in charge of 25% of Celtic’s SPFL Premiership matches this season.

Although Celtic won both matches the trip to Tannadice proved costly with Odsonne Edouard picking up a bad heel injury that ruled him out of the Champions League qualifier against Ferencvaros. It seemed like the United players were on a rota to foul the French striker, no cards were produced for home players until the 80th minute.

Dallas also struggled to measure out 10 yards when Celtic were given a late free kick with the match goal-less, Scott Brown was booked for his goal celebration.

In 2019 Dallas surprisingly stood down from the lucrative FIFA Category1 List which provides international appointments.

There are seven SFA referees on the Category 1 List, it seems very unusual for someone not among the elite to be in charge of 25% of the fixtures for the country’s leading club.
