Shane Duffy admits that he has been performing below expectations and that his mates won’t be happy with his form.

At the start of September he made his dream move to Celtic, joining on a season long loan from Brighton.

After two matches captaining Ireland he scored on his Celtic debut at Ross County and followed that up with another against St Mirren.

Following a demanding international week that covered Bratislava, Dublin and Helsinki he found himself getting emergency dental surgery then thrown in to the Glasgow derby and a Europa League tie against AC Milan.

Duffy doesn’t kid himself on, he knows when he isn’t performing to expectations and opened up to Sky Sports ahead of today’s match at Aberdeen.

Personally, my form hasn’t been good enough at the moment. I’ve been here before, I just need to get my head around it and get back playing to what I’m used to.

I’ve had two bad games that haven’t been to my standards so I’m my biggest critic. I know that it’s not good enough, I know Celtic fans and my mates won’t be happy with me.

But if you know me, what I can bring to the table, it’s much better than what I’ve shown so I just have to keep going, keep working hard, believing in me and I know that I can get back to the form that I know I’m capable of.

Celtic know that only a win will do at Pittodrie this afternoon, to bounce back in the SPFL title race and avoid a three match losing run. Duffy is expected to start alongside Kris Ajer in a four man defence.
