‘He’s fat and only passes backwards’ Colombian fans not impressed by Morelos

Alfredo Morelos has finally made his competitive debut for Colombia, sent on as a substitute when his nation was 3-0 in front of Venezuela.

The most wanted striker in world football, recently linked with a fast track plan to Paris Saint Germain through Al Du Hail didn’t have much chance to impress but some watching Colombian fans weren’t comvinced.

Since being talked about as a £40m striker by Steven Gerrard and Dave King last December the form of the prize Ibrox asset has fallen off a cliff.

There were no SPFL goals scored in 2020 before lockdown but that can partly be explained by suspensions from the SFA, UEFA and his own club for a late return after carrying out charitable work in his troubled homeland.

Fake News transfer tales continued all through the summer with Porto and Fiorentina strongly linked but not from any media outlets outside of Scotland or Colombia.

Gerrard claimed that Morelos’ head had been turned  by transfer talk linking him with a move to Lille, to be fair to the former HJK Helsinki starlet the same stories have been circulating since January 2018 when mystery offers were reported from China.

Cedric Itten and Kemar Roofe were signed in August but Morelos remains first choice at Ibrox with his next international date away to Chile on Tuesday night with a 9.30pm kick off.
