Vakoun Bayo is facing a lay off for several weeks after tearing a muscle in his thigh.

The striker suffered the injury during the weekend win over Ajaccio which brought a welcome three points to lift Toulouse into 12th place in the 20 team Ligue 2.

Bayo scored twice on his debut for Toulouse against Grenoble but hasn’t scored in five subsequent appearances before being replaced in the 65th minute of Saturday’s match.

Covering events at Toulouse, La Depeche reports:

As a reminder, the Violets will have to do without the services of Janis Antiste (suspended) and Vakoun Bayo and Bafodé Diakité. The last named injured his hand on Sunday and will have to recover for six weeks. As far as Bayo is concerned, he suffers from a muscle tear in his thigh. Patrice Garande expected to lose him “several weeks”.

Celtic paid a reported £2m to sign Bayo from Slovak side Dunajska Streda in January 2019 but soon after joining he was injured with just one substitute appearance that season.

Last August he started for Celtic against Hearts and although most fans at the match watched him score twice the SPFL opted to record them both as own goals.

With Patryk Klimala and Albian Ajeti signed since Bayo made his way to Celtic it looks unlikely that he’ll be making it in Scotland with the loan deal to Toulouse an opportunity to earn a move elsewhere.
